January

In case you've wondered why I haven't posted (since you have nothing else going on in your lives) I've decided to explain!

The first week of January sucked!!! I ended up having to go back to my dentist to have a root canal tooth from December fixed because it was giving me more pain, to the doctor for a horrible ear-ache and for a sinus infection, to turn around and end up in the ER to get stitches in my pinky finger (7 stitches) because I sliced it open on a pop-top lid to a can of tuna. The ironic part of this is that I hate fish and wouldn't normally touch a tuna can if you paid me, but Erick needed help getting lunch ready before he left for work. Then on Friday of that week, we paid a lot of money to have Erick's truck fixed (thank heavens it's fixed) and then because he was in so much pain, I ran him to the InstaCare in Layton. They scared us half to death when they took a chest X-ray and said that he had an abnormality in the bottom of his right lung for which they sent us up to McKay Dee Hospital to have a CT scan done. They were looking for pulmonary embolisms and blod clots. Blessings abound because the tests showed no cancer, blod clots, or pneumonia, but he had what they call a pleural effusion which is a collection of fluid at the bottom of his lung. They put him on a Z-pac and then gave him Lortab to deal with the pain. That was week 1!!

Week 2, we spent recovering from our fun week and Erick went to the Dentist for a cleaning and I went to the OBs to see that our baby is on track and doing well - and yes, he is!!

Week 3, Heather went in for a cleaning and found out she has $2,000 in dental work that needs to be done including another root canal - dentures anyone? I have also been called for an interview at Doxey Elementary in Sunset that I am looking forward to. It would be a position teaching 2nd grade for the rest of the year and after doing some research on Doxey, it looks like a promising job.

In all, this month has been the medical month for Erick and I. I keep joking that we will have met our deductible in the first month of the year and that our baby will be free (not true ever). I just have to take this time to say that for us (me) it has been a trying time because I would rather spend money on getting ready for our baby and moving into an apartment and not lining the pockets of dentists, mechanics, and doctors. But we are still so blessed and grateful that we are both alive and have jobs and family to help us get through the rainy days of life. Hopefully the next post will have better news than this one!
