Easter Time Is Here

Easter was a fun holiday this year because Ryker was older and able to understand it better. We started off with the traditional egg dying activity for Family Home Evening the Monday prior to Easter. We bought a roll-on kit, that on the cover showed deep colored dyes, but ended up being pastel nail polish. We still painted our eggs, however, Ryker's first and only attempt was to throw the egg at the table and hear it crunch. That's when we decided we would help him by doing most of the dying ourselves and having him there as moral support.

Ryker, not happy about being the Moral Support!!

Easter morning, we did the usual basket hunt. Ryker's was placed in plain site on the bed in the living room but he didn't notice it until Erick  showed it to him. We gave him Reese's Pieces, Swiss Rolls, Ring Pops, bubbles, a book, and a Charlie Brown DVD. He was thrilled to have all of the candy and especially the book the first day. Since then, it has been the DVD that he pays more attention to.

I gave Erick Swiss Rolls, Cadbury Eggs, kiwi, a Richard Scarry Book, Reese's Pieces, and beef jerky. He gave me a Charlie Brown DVD, strawberries, a chocolate bunny, a Mormon Tabernacle CD, and Twizzlers.
We had fun hunting for the baskets but we had to do it quickly because we had to be to church by 11 a.m.

We celebrated the Easter meal with my family on the actual day and then the following weekend we went Easter Egg rolling with Erick's family up in Ogden on the mountainside. Kim, Shane, Aaron, Kirsten, Taylor, BJ, Holly, June, Larry, Dan, Ethan, Jaren, Hailee, and Kalisse came and we proceeded with the destruction of our eggs. We were there for about an hour and a half. It was a nice warm day with a cool breeze so it was fun to do it and then we went back to June and Larry's for dinner.

We tried really hard this year to take time to read articles from the Ensign regarding the Atonement and the Resurrection to Ryker  and ourselves for Family Home Evening and found that we still need to do more to help the holiday get the proper recognition for the proper events. So anyone with suggestions is welcomed to comment!!!
