It came fast and it was fun – Ryker turned 1!! Erick and I have counted the months and can hardly believe that our little guy is one. We took him with us to Disneyland as part of an early celebration and we had so much fun showing him things. He was more interested in people than in things and so it was fun to watch his interactions with others.
When we got home, we had four days to plan his birthday and we wanted it to be small and intimate for Ryker. We invited both of our parents and left it at that. We took Ryker with us when we bought his birthday gifts and he kissed and hugged all of them as we put them in the shopping cart. We also bought him some gifts in California.
For his dinner we had beef ribs and salads. We then showed a video of all of the pictures we have taken of him for the past year; this was so much fun to show and we also looked at his birth video as well. We then let him open his presents and then he got to have his smash cake. This was comical because he didn’t know what to do with it and he just sat there. I took his hands and placed them on the cake. He started to touch it slowly and then he started squishing it in his hands. He looked like a smurf when he was done, but he refused to eat his cake.

For gifts, he received a onesie from Disneyland with Mater on it that says, “Who Backfired?!”, he received bath toys, a blue bouncy ball, a computerized talking soccer ball that sings too, he also received a texture book with zoo animals, a drinking glass from Disneyland that Grandma and Grandpa Farley bought him, and Mega Blocks from Grandma and Grandpa Presser.
His new blue bouncy ball!

It was an amazing day to celebrate my baby’s first birthday and it was such an experience to look back at his and our growth over the past year. Happy Birthday Ryker!!!!
