5 Year Anniversary

This year marks the first five years of our marriage - hard to believe, but yep, it's been 5 years!!!!!  I have loved every minute of my marriage. We've had hard times and disagreements, but I love my husband more today than I did the day I married him. I have seen him grow, I have seen his strength, love, compassion, service, and sacrifice for me and for Ryker.  I always thought that people who said they loved their spouses more after marriage must have been nuts - I guess I thought that marriage was the pinnacle of the whole affair. However, I now see what they mean and I agree with it whole heartedly.

We decided to really celebrate this year. In the past every anniversary was an adventure since we love to try new things. So each year, we would go to a new ethnic restaurant and try the cuisine together. First year was Sawadee (Thai) and Rodizio (Brazilian), the second year was Café Madrid (Spanish), the third year we did Mazza (Middle Eastern), the fourth year we did a Peruvian restaurant in Syracuse. This year instead of trying a new food, we decided to try a new Bed and Breakfast and eat something that we loved. So we ate dinner at Settebellos (Italian) in Farmington, then we walked Temple Square and saw the lights, we followed that by going to Gourmandise (mixture of ethnic desserts), and our final destination was the Anniversary Inn on 5th South in Salt Lake City.   In the past we had looked at this B and B but weren't very impressed by the rooms because they seemed a little cheesy to us, but this year, Erick's employer gave us a gift certificate and Mom gave us some money to go with it so we decided to check it out.

We chose the Romeo and Juliet Suite because we love more of the elegant look rather than the "funner" themes they have. We loved the look of the room, we loved the huge tub and it was nice to use it after freezing to death walking Temple Square.  We really loved the look and feel of the whole room and package and decided that it wasn't as bad as we thought. It was the first time in 4 years that we were able to go away for the night, since we had Ryker a year and a half into our marriage. We were a little apprehensive about leaving him because we love doing the bedtime routine with him, but found the break to a nice breather. Turns out that he had so much fun at my mom's without us - so I guess the break was mutual.

What a nice way to spend our fifth anniversary and I am so excited for the next five and so on. I feel like I scored the best husband (I know that many of you have wonderful husbands and feel the same way about them - no dissing). Thanks honey for a great 5 years -  I love you so much!!!
